The day before the year of... some reptile?
Today marks the one year anniversary since we moved out of our apartment in West Soho, New York City.
It is also the eve of the Chinese year of the dragon.
On the menu, there were pearl rice balls, parsnip cake, ma-po tofu, bak-choi sauteed with black shitake, sweet and sour ribs, sticky rice, and a red bean coconut sticky rice cake that I'm using black bean instead because that's what is abundant in Brazil.
I was going to make all of this and watch my guests stuff their faces. I was. I'd never let go of an opportunity to get friends together, recruit culinary guinea pigs, and get silly.
This year is one of the few instances where I found out that Chinese New Year wasn't a few days ago. And it is also the first time that I cared to cook up a feast to celebrate, yet I have no one to invite. I'm saving this drool-inducing menu for next year, when I have found some more friends.
For the meantime, happy chinese new year to my friends who celebrate. You know what they say about the year of the dragon...?
That it's when everything will happen for you, and that it will be great.
I just made that up, but who cares.
testing... 1..2..3... testing. testing...
I have not experienced such thing as a Blog before... or writing either, as a matter of fact... but eh-hemmm... here we go!
Today is a good day for something new. Says the horoscope... I think. It could have said that anyway.
